Cloud Connected

"The only difference between Cloud CMS and your current on-premise document repository is that you don't have to worry about software or hardware installation and upgrades any longer."

Open Source Cloud Content Management

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been very hard at work on our upcoming open-source release. We’re really excited to offer Cloud CMS as an open-source, GPL-licensed download and expect that it should hit the intertubes in early January!

The open-source download will be fully-featured and will provide 100% of the functionality that we pack into the hosted cloud offering. It will allow individuals to install Cloud CMS on-premise or within their own private clouds. The open-source licensed version is free and will enable developers to evaluate, experiment and deliver their own projects with all of the functionality of Cloud CMS. No holds barred.

In addition, folks who have a cloud subscription will also be able to synchronize content back and forth between their cloud accounts and their on-premise installations. We call this “Cloud Sync”. It allows businesses to take advantage of the best of both worlds. When they want things in the cloud, they can put it there. When they need to keep things on-premise, they can securely do that as well.

We’ve been pushing toward a pure open-source release ever since Cloud CMS was founded. It was always our intention. In fact, we originally thought to call the open-source release “Ground CMS” - a clever play on words that we were keen on for a few minutes in 2011 (before we realized what confusion it might cause).

We will regularly release updates to our open-source release and are inspired by such projects as Elastic Search where they are very frequent with their updates. The open-source release will have parity with our cloud server meaning that you’ll be able to do everything on-premise just as you can in the cloud.

So get ready! 2013 is going to be a great year. We continue to grow and are looking forward to this next step in our customer and community enablement!
